Summer places in Estonia

Estonia is known for its cold breezes and winters but there are a few places that you should visit when coming to Estonia in summers. The place does attract a lot of tourists both local and foreigners. As a student here I had the chance to visit few places last summer.

First is the summer capital of Estonia, Pärnu. It is considered as a resort city in the south western part of the country. It is known for its 19th century architecture timber villas and its sandy beach. It is the fourth largest populated city of Estonia. The city comes alive in the summer time and it is popular among tourists from across the country and also from neighboring countries, who come to enjoy its summer beaches and resorts.

From what I have heard from my Estonian friends, Pärnu beach has been the center of attraction because of its music festivals since 2015. Pärnu beaches have hosted the largest weekend music festivals in the Nordic and Baltic regions with artists like Harwell, Martin Garrix, David Guetta and many more.

Second is an island called Saaremaa. This island is known for the sea shores and exotic views and nature. It is surrounded by forests and traditional villages that provides a certain sight for the tourist.

When I visited the place we took a ferry to reach to the island and that was an experience of its own, sailing in a midst of the ocean was a sight to see. Cold breeze of the Baltic Sea and just sea water as far as the eye can see.

The main attraction of this island is its capital Kuressaare and the medieval castle of Kuressaare. The Island also has one of the most beautiful views of Baltic ocean from Panga cliff that was quite mesmerizing.

The third place is one of my favorite places in Estonia. It is the Rummu Underwater prison which is an abandoned prison that is surrounded by natural ground waters. This place is popular among tourists because Alan Walker’s “Faded” was shot in this place and the main attraction for most of people to visit is, that this place is one of the maps in PUBG (PlayerUnknown's Battleground, an online multiplayer battle royale game). The place is surrounded by huge cliffs from where you can see the whole view of the lake as shown in this picture, although to see the view you need to climb your way up to those dangerous cliffs. The entrance fees is 3€ with activities like snorkeling, paddle boarding and canoeing.
